United Desiccants Changes Name to Reflect Broader, Global Capabilities

In an effort to more clearly reflect the company's global ability and commitment to provide value-added packaging solutions for a broad range of applications, United Desiccants/Humidial has changed its name to Süd-Chemie Performance Packaging.

The company says the name change, which took effect May 10, symbolizes a strategic focus and capability to design and manufacture custom packaging products for the pharmaceutical, electronics, diagnostics, nutraceutical, shipping and other industries.

"We remain fully committed to providing the highest quality moisture protection products," says Randall Taussig, director of marketing and sales, Süd-Chemie Performance Packaging. "The name change is simply a natural part of the growth of our company, which better reflects our global capabilities."

Süd-Chemie Performance Packaging has seven customer service and manufacturing facilities located on five continents worldwide. The company, according to George Klett, vice-president, is streamlining its operations with a new installation of SAP R/3 software to better serve its customers.

Packaging products the company manufactures are designed to protect against moisture, UV and other forms of contamination. Recent product introductions include 2AP, which combines precise amounts of desiccant with virtually any polymer to produce rigid packaging with built-in moisture protection, and effervescent-PAK and diagnostic-PAK. These two injection-molded packages, which can be produced in custom shapes and sizes, prevent breakage damage to effervescent tablets and diagnostic kits, respectively, incorporating a desiccant stopper to protect moisture-sensitive components.
