Temple-Inland to Acquire MDF Facilities from MacMillan Bloedel

Temple-Inland, Inc., a Diboll, Texas-based manufacturer of paper and corrugated packaging, has entered into a definitive agreement to purchase the Pembroke, ON, and Clarion, PA, medium-density fiberboard (MDF) plants from MacMillan Bloedel Limited for approximately C$160 million. The transaction is scheduled to close by the end of the third quarter.

Each facility has the design capacity to produce approximately 130 million sqft of MDF annually. Upon completion of this transaction, Temple-Inland will have the capacity to produce approximately 410 million sqft of MDF/yr and 610 million sqft of particleboard/yr.
