Sharp Packaging's BPS-2 MAX

Sharp Packaging’s BPS-2 MAX Sharp Packaging Systems, Inc. (Sussex WI) responds to the packaging industry's need for real-time imprinting at the point of packaging, with the announcement of their newest piece of packaging machinery - their dependable BPS-2™ with an integrated thermal transfer imprinter. Sharp calls it the BPS-2 MAX™ . Combined with Sharp's pre-made, pre-opened Poly Mail E-Z Bags™ (envelopes) on a roll, the BPS-2 MAX™ packaging system reduces labor costs and improves packaging rates.

Standard features of the BPS-2 MAX™ include a color touchscreen control panel which eliminates errors due to single entry keys. The control panel has built-in operator friendly HELP screens and allows for real-time diagnostics and troubleshooting.

A 203 dpi print head is also standard, on the BPS-2 MAX™ and a 300 dpi will be available in late 2001.

The unique flip up print head design offers quicker, easier maintenance and service.

The beauty of Sharp's BPS-2 MAX™ is its enhanced simplification for printing and packaging database driven applications. With the imprinting system positioned directly behind the indexing drive rollers, the system prints the bag that is to be packaged. This enables each bag to have a unique imprint from the customer's database. The result is a match between the customized contents of each bag, and the information printed on that bag. With such accuracy, errors can be virtually eliminated. When used in conjunction with Sharp's postal approved, pre-opened Poly Mail E-Z Bags™ (envelopes), this unit is a must for Internet supply and fulfillment centers, catalog and mail houses, and pharmaceutical mail order. This system eliminates the need for press and apply labels and their associated labor costs, and even small runs of as little as one bag can be economically run.

The BPS-2 MAX™ , accepts most of Sharp Packaging's BPS-2™ machinery options and accessories. It can be configured for optimal semi-automatic or fully automatic performance with an in-feed device and like all other Sharp machinery, is manufactured mostly from standard off the shelf components. The BPS-2 MAX™ has a retail price of $24,950.00 and pre-opened poly mail envelopes. Envelopes usually cost between .02 - .08 per envelope.

Sharp's Poly Mail E-Z Bags™ are manufactured from a specially engineered, multiple layer film for improved performance, and economics, and are designed for privacy and toughness. A vertical perforation allows E-Z opening by the recipient. Plain Poly Mail E-Z Bags™ in standard sizes of 4 x 6, 6 x 9 or 10 x 13 can be shipped from stock or they can be custom manufactured to customers' specifications, with print up to six colors.
