Rockwell Automation purchases batch control business from Sequentia

Rockwell Automation (Milwaukee) has acquired the batch software and services business of Sequencia Corp. (Phoenix), adding Sequencia's Responsive Process Manufacturing Series (rpmSeries) suite of products to Rockwell Automation's current process offerings. The rpmSeries suite enables process customers to effectively manage and execute their batch applications.

The acquisition includes the development, support, services and administrative personnel associated with Sequencia's batch software and services business. Approximately 55 of Sequencia's employees will join Rockwell Automation's newly formed Software and Services Group. Terms of the transaction were not disclosed.

"Customers today are demanding solutions that extend seamlessly across all aspects of their plant, from batch processing applications such as specialty chemicals and brewing, to discrete and motion control applications such as high-speed packaging and material handling," says Ron Wichter, senior vice president, Rockwell Automation Software and Services Group. "Sequencia's technology and industry leading expertise further strengthen our ability to better serve customers by adding world-class batch control capabilities along with enterprise-wide connectivity to those batch applications."

With the acquisition, "Rockwell is now well positioned to develop comprehensive batch control solutions for today's market needs," comments Asish Ghosh, vice president of ARC Advisory Group.

Building on its long-term relationship with Sequencia, the acquisition will expand Rockwell Automation's portfolio of Manufacturing Businessware solutions into the batch application space. As these products evolve, they will become an integrated piece of the RSBizware suite of products focused on lowering the cost of design, operation and maintenance of information managed by manufacturers.

Rockwell Automation, a business of Rockwell International Corp., brings together leading brands in industrial automation, including Allen-Bradley controls, Reliance Electric power transmission products, Dodge mechanical power transmission components and Rockwell Software control software.
