Pulmuone U.S.A And Wildwood Organics Complete Corporate Merger; Introduce New Wildwood Packaging
Fullerton, CA - Pulmuone U.S.A, an organic tofu and soy food company and a subsidiary of South Korean-based Pulmuone Co., Ltd., and Wildwood Natural Foods, U.S. producer and seller of tofu and high protein products, recently announced the completion of their corporate merger. The amount and terms of the merger were not disclosed, but the new company called Pulmuone Wildwood, Inc. joined with Pulmuone Co., Ltd creates tofu producer and positions the company as a U.S. provider of soy food products.
Young Chul Kang who serves as chief executive officer of Pulmuone USA, will continue in his role at Pulmuone Wildwood. John Breen from Wildwood Natural Foods becomes chief operating officer and Tom Lacina also from Wildwood Natural Foods was named executive vice president of Sales and Marketing.
"This merger brings together two like-minded companies whose combined visions will provide consumers with the highest-quality and best tasting soy and tofu products," said Kang. "Our goal is to become the leading player in the global soy product industry while providing excellent service, innovative new products and socially responsible management."
The merger gives the company global access to more than 100 food scientists and five U.S. facilities that specialize in production and research and development. In fact, Pulmuone Wildwood has the only dedicated cultured soy facility in the country located in Grinnell, Iowa. Other plant locations are in Watsonville, CA, Fullerton, CA, Southgate, CA, and Tappan, NY.
Also announced recently as part of the new company, Wildwood will launch new packaging. The vibrant new colors will better attract shopper's attention and best selling products will be clearly labeled with a "Best Seller" icon. In addition, Wildwood becomes the first U.S. company to use easy-to-read ingredient icons that lists extra nutritional information including "Veggie Protein," and less favorable such as sugar, sodium, fat, trans fat, and calories, according to the comapny. The icons will simplify ingredient reading and make the product more consumer friendly. The new look should start hitting shelves in December 2006.
"We're excited about our new fresh look," said John Breen, chief operating officer of Pulmuone Wildwood. "Consumers want to understand the ingredients in their food and we're going to make it easier for them to understand what and how much they are putting in their bodies."
