Procter & Gamble Signs Record Contract With Minority Vendor
The Procter & Gamble Company has signed a record contract with a minority-owned vendor, Specialized Packaging Group. The contract, estimated to be worth over $100 million for three years, is the largest signed by the Cincinnati-based consumer company in its Historically Underutilized Business (HUB) program.
SPG is the largest minority-owned manufacturer of folding cartons in the United states and will provide packaging for P&G's global Fabric and Home Care product line, including Tide, Ivory Snow, Biz, Ariel, Cheer, Gain, and Swiffer.
'This is a historic day for our HUBs program. Our contract with SPG underlines the program's unquestionable value in terms of building relationships with minority businesses and minority consumers," said Mark Ketchum, P&G president of paper products, North America, and executive sponsor for HUBs.
SPG (Hamden, CT) is a package design, engineering, and carton manufacturing company founded in 1983. It consists of two operating companies, located in Baldwinsville, NY, and London, Ontario. It also has four design and engineering centers at both operating companies and in Cincinnati and Hamden, CT.
