Portola Offer Solutions for Every Capping Need

A family of push-pull sport caps in 28 mm and 38 mm sizes are now available from Cap Snap and Nepco, divisions of Portola Packaging of San Jose, CA. The new 28 mm cap and two models of the 38 mm cap, is ideal for non-carbonated drinking water, juice and dairy applications, provide convenience, tamper evidence and shelf presence.

Portola's push-pull sport caps feature a patented drop-down tamper evident band on the push-pull valve that does not require removing the primary closure to drink from the top. The consumer simply pulls up the cap valve to break the band. Additional tamper evidence is provided on the 38 mm closures' primary cap by a horizonal tear strip that can be removed from the base of the cap. On the 28mm closure, a drop-down band is broken if the primary cap is unscrewed. This dual system of tamper evidence eliminates the need for an additional shrink-wrap sleeve around the cap. An inside valve built into the closure creates a tight seal with the bottle, ending the need for an additional internal liner.

Portola's family of caps provide a solution for every capping need, including fitments for gable top cartons. Portola's Twist and Spout easy-open fitment for traditional gable top cartons is available for 1-liter and 2-liter cartons. Twist and Spout eliminates raw carton edges, and provides a tight seal that preserves flavors and keeps out odors. A gabletop carton with fitment is easy for consumers to open without touching the pouring area. Portola's EL Spout System provides these benefits and more and is designed for hygienic, extended life, and hot-fill applications. The premium EL Spout fitment utilizes an interior oxygen barrier membrane for shelf life. Both fitments are designed to be ultrasonically welded to the carton from the inside out, providing high aesthetic appeal as well as a better seal.

From caps to equipment, Portola provides complete packaging solutions for customers. Portola manufactures high-speed capping equipment for all their closures, from simple low-cost dairy cappers to plastic spout applicator systems for paper cartons and can design and manufacture production tooling for the most complex closures. Cap Snap and NEPCO are divisions of Portola Packaging, which is the world's largest manufacturer of caps and closures for non-carbonated beverage products. With more than a dozen manufacturing locations worldwide, Portola is also the world's largest injection molder of low-density polyethylene resin. Headquartered in Silicon Valley, CA, Portola's extensive product line also includes wide mouth closures for use with plastic containers.
