Alloyd Company (DeKalb, IL), a manufacturer of light-gauge thermoformed retail packaging materials and medical trays, and a maker of heat-seal packaging and radio frequency (RF) sealing equipment, has named Edwin W. Parkinson as president and CEO. Parkinson brings 34 years of sales and marketing, operations and executive experience in manufacturing corporations to Alloyd.

Rock-Tenn Co. has made several management changes at its Norcross, GA, headquarters: Jay Shuster, president and COO, left the company after 21 year; Steven C. Voorhees has been named executive vice president and CFO, succeeding David Nicholson who resigned his position; Robert McIntosh, vice president and general counsel, is promoted to senior vice president, general counsel and secretary, and is named to the management committee of the company.

Alloyd Company (Minneapolis) has promoted Dane D. Anderson to CFO, treasurer and secretary. Anderson has been with the company since 1988.

Mark Jacobson, vice president of Econocorp Inc. (Randolph, MA), has been named to the Packaging Machinery Manufacturers Institute's board of directors. He replaces Audrey Waidelich of Heat & Control, who resigned.

Jim C. Bowen, formerly corporate vice president and general manager - paper division, has been elected senior vice president - global paper operations, and Ronald E. Holley, formerly corporate vice president - industrial products, has been elected senior vice president - global industrial products at Sonoco (Hartsville, SC). In addition, Marty F. Pignone, formerly director - manufacturing, paper division, has been named division vice president - paper, North America, and Larry O. Gantt, vice president - operating excellence, has been elected a corporate officer.

Margaret P. Bonura has been promoted to director of sales and marketing at New England Machinery Inc. (Bradenton, FL).

Richard (Dick) Lacana was named an at-large member of the International Association of Food Industry Suppliers (IAFIS) (McLean, VA) board of directors. Lacana is vice president/general manager, global packaging machinery business for International Paper/Evergreen Packaging Equipment (Cedar Rapids, Iowa).

Rexam Medical Packaging (Mundelein, IL) has appointed Tim Rachke to the newly created position of director of supply chain management.

Dr. Kay Cooksey, professor of packaging science at Clemson University has been elected 2000-2001 chair of Institute of Food Technologists' Food Packaging Division. Leslie Cook of Cryovac-Sealed Air is named chair-elect of the division, and Rebecca Guzy of Kraft Inc. is named secretary.

The Institute of Food Technologists' Food Packaging Division has named Dr. Barbara Blakistone, senior scientist with the National Food Processors Association, winner of the 2000 Riester-Davis Award. Dr. Blakistone is a leader in research on package integrity, aseptic packaging and microbiological food safety.

Rusty Sparling has been appointed by R.A. Jones & Co. (Covington, KY) to the position of director of the pharmaceutical & personal products industry.

Consumers Packaging Inc. (Toronto) has named Dale A. Buckwalter CFO. Buckwalter was previously CFO and a principal of Anthony Crane Rental, L.P., the world's largest crane rental firm. David T. Gutowski, who has served as Consumers Packaging's CFO since December1999, is returning to his position as senior vice president, administration,at Anchor Glass Container Corp., Consumers Packaging's primary subsidiary. In his new role Buckwalter also serves as CFO of Anchor Glass Container Corp. He replaces M. William Lightner, Jr. Anchor's CFO since 1997, who is retiring.

Ole Terland has been appointed president of SCA Packaging's Corrugated Board Division (Stockholm, Sweden). He succeeds Anthony Thorne, who has accepted the position as president of a company outside the SCA Group.

DuPont Co. (Wilmington, DE) has named Thomas M. Connelly Jr., currently vice president/general manager, DuPont Fluoroproducts, to senior vice president/chief science & technology officer.

SeaquistPerfect Dispensing (Cary, IL) has appointed Patrick F. Doherty president.

Gibraltar Packaging Group Inc. (Hastings, NE) has announced the resignation of John W. Lloyd, CFO of the company. Lloyd will continue to serve on the company's board of directors. Lyle Halstead has in turn been appointed vice president finance - operations, and Brett Moller has been appointed vice president finance - corporate.

Contract packager Sharp (Conshohocken, PA) has promoted Richard F. Sury and Charles A. Kerins to the position of sales director. Their responsibilities include overseeing and coordinating sales activity for the West Caldwell, NJ, and Conshohocken, PA, facilities, respectively.

Interbrand, a leading brand consultancy, announced the promotion of Dave Bolton to associate group director. In this position, Bolton will oversee a number of key product branding projects for the firm.

Ivex Packaging Corp. (Lincolnshire, IL) has promoted Gordon B. Bonfield to executive vice president and COO.
