The company will introduce a new FDA-compliant "Metal Detectable" plastic in its RAM modular plastic belting line at PACK EXPO International 2000. Contamination of food and consumer products by steel shavings, nuts, bolts, etc. is currently detected with metal detectors that are standard equipment on most production lines. A major concern of many processors and manufacturers has been how to detect plastic contamination of their products in the event a plastic belt is damaged. Now, by using the metal detector already located in the plant, pieces of plastic can be detected automatically, eliminating potential safety and liability problems.
