NX Pigments
Available Colors:
NX-13
Rocket Red*
NX-14
Fire Orange*
NX-15
Blaze Orange*
NX-17
Saturn Yellow*
NX-21
Corona Magenta*
To obtain a strong fluorescent green, 1% of NX-17 Saturn Yellow should be blended with approximately 0.03% of Phthalo Green.
Chemical Nature & Dispersion Properties:
NX-Pigments are a solid solution of fluorescent dyes in a thermoplastic
polyamide resin.
To ensure complete color development when incorporating NX-Pigments into plastic resins, it is essential the minimum processing temperature of 370oF (190oC) is reached and the pigment completely melted and evenly distributed throughout the plastic.
Additives:
Certain metal ions are known to cause color changes and loss
of brightness with fluorescent colorants. Studies have shown
that plastic processing additives containing "free"
zinc, magnesium, calcium and iron will cause deleterious color
effects when used in a plastic resin system containing NX-Pigment.
If a metal containing additive must be used, it should be thoroughly tested to ensure the color stability of the NX-Pigment. Also, refer to Technical Bulletin "Effects of Metal Ions on Fluorescent Colorants in Plastics".
Color Concentrate:
NX-Pigments will allow pigment loadings of 40-50% in concentrates.
Tinctorial Strength:
The high tinctorial strength of the NX-Pigments permit higher
amounts of TiO2 to be added for opacity while maintaining the
fluorescent effect.
Typical Physical Properties:
Minimum Processing Temp.
370oF (190oC)
Heat Stability
475oF (245oC)
Softening Point
275oF - 310oF (135oC - 155oC)

20-60 Microns
Applications:
NX-Pigments were developed for use in polyethylene blow molded
containers and other thin film applications. NX-Pigments have
also been applied in other plastic resins and at different processing
conditions, but we recommend their thorough testing first.
