Modified Atmosphere Packaging System

Source: Map Systems International
This modified atmosphere packaging system for oxygen-sensitive medical and pharmaceutical applications offers
This modified atmosphere packaging system for oxygen-sensitive medical and pharmaceutical applications offers residual oxygen control without complex vacuum chambers or scavenging chemical additives. The interface system features Dual Laminar Flow and Gas Laser technology coupled with sterile HEPA filtered nitrogen for critical Class 100 clean room applications. The gassing system directly attaches to existing medical and pharmaceutical packaging equipment to provide modified atmosphere capabilities.

Interfaces are available for most styles of existing packaging machines and provide guaranteed residual oxygen levels with general capabilities of 0.5% oxygen or less with validatable accuracy. Line speeds are not limited by the modified atmosphere system and are primarily dependent on the speed capabilities of the sealing equipment.

The company's proprietary vacuumless gas flush technology is said to provide medical and pharmaceutical manufacturers with shelf stability and extended potency on products over a longer period of time. Applications include injectable drug vials, bottled tablets and pills, vertical and horizontal form/fill/sealing, blister packaging, tray sealing, pouch making, headspace applications, bottling, canning and IV bag production.
