New Metallized OPP Film Introduced
AET Films has introduced a new oriented polypropylene (OPP) film that shines brighter than any other metallized OPP film. Designated MXT (XW-60), the versatile new film is an alternative to aluminum foil and metallized polyester in high barrier food packaging applications. MXT is a replacement for -- and a significant improvement on -- the company's previous non-sealable metallized film offering, MLB.

A metallized, non-sealable biaxially oriented polypropylene film, MXT is treated on one side and has a brilliant metal appearance on the other. Other features include extremely high moisture and oxygen barrier performance and excellent metal adhesion, craze resistance, cold seal receptivity, and printability.

MXT's glossy finish is designed to support superior graphics. The film is used as the interior ply of high barrier packaging laminations using cohesive sealants for candy, baked foods, condiments and cereal bars or as the outside web in a bag-in-a-box application. Because of its excellent moisture barrier, it can also be used in fractional coffee packs and reduced-fat food products. MXT is ideal for both extrusion and adhesive tandem laminations.

AET Films, a division of Applied Extrusion Technologies, Inc., is a leading developer of oriented polypropylene (OPP) films for packaging, labeling, and overwrap applications. Headquartered in New Castle, Delaware, the company has three production sites in North America, including the world's largest OPP films manufacturing facility located in Terre Haute, Indiana.
