McNeil Introduces New Packaging
McNeil Consumer Products Company, the world's leading maker of over-the-counter pain relievers, announced this week that it is introducing new packaging in the U.S. for its TYLENOL and Motrin IB brands to make packaging more consumer friendly.
"The new packaging, which consumers will start to see on store shelves in late July, incorporates redesigned front panel graphics to make it easier for consumers to select appropriate dosage forms. The back panel on TYLENOL has been simplified with the use of larger print, helpful icons, and an easier-to-read format," said Brian Perkins, McNeil President.
As part of the label modifications, McNeil said that both its TYLENOL and Motrin IB labels would contain organ-specific language about alcohol consumption and the use of all OTC pain relievers, as recently proposed by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration.
``When using OTC NSAIDs, like aspirin and even ibuprofen, consumers need to be aware of the potential increase in the risk of stomach complications when used in combination with alcohol. Occasional, moderate drinkers who follow directions for appropriate dosing can be reassured that they can continue to use acetaminophen products, such as TYLENOL, with confidence.'' said Richard Dart, M.D., Ph.D., Director , Rocky Mountain Poison and Drug Center, Denver, CO.
McNeil Consumer Products Company, headquartered in Fort Washington, PA., is a Johnson & Johnson company. McNeil's pain reliever franchise is the most extensive and comprehensive of any company in the world, with its TYLENOL and Motrin brand products
