K&R Equipment Offers Case Erector/Poly Bag Insertion System

Source: K & R Equipment, Inc.
K&R Equipment, an affiliate of United Container Machinery Company, today announced availability of their new Case Erector/Poly Bag Insertion System deigned to operate at the beginning of an automated bulk packaging line along with weighting, filling, and case sealing equipment.

Requiring minimum operator attention, the system automatically erects a shipping case, inserts a poly bag, and bottom seals the case with pressure sensitive tape or hot melt adhesive.

Poly bags are used from standard rolls, open-end leading, each bag is clamped and cut eliminating any special requirements for perforations and giving a clean cut edge for improved opening characteristics. Bags need to meet specifications but can be purchased competitively. When inserting the poly bag, air actuated mechanical fingers positively grip, open, and cuff the bag over extended upper case flaps. A patented air evacuation system eliminates air pockets between bag and case normally found with hand or mandrel insertion.

Three models are available to cover K/D case length dimensions from 15 inches to 42 inches. The systems can operate at speeds of up to 15 cases per minute depending upon case and bag sizes.
