Klöckner Pentaplast To Display New Packaging Materials At Expo Pack 2006

Gordonsville, VA - Klöckner Pentaplast of America, Inc., will display applications of a wide range of packaging materials in booth #1019 during the Expo Pack 2006 show, June 27-30, at the Centro de Exposiciones Banamex in Mexico City. Among the newest products on display are Klöckner Pentaplast's new Pentapharm alfoil SG films with enhanced slip properties for pharmaceutical and nutraceutical products; Pentaprint E746/92 AS7 high clarity polyester shrink-label films for full-body shrinksleeve label and multi-pack applications; and Pentaform "Easy-Form" high-performance vinyl films for face-seal blister and clamshell packaging applications.

New Pentapharm alfoil SG Films with Enhanced Slip Properties
The Pentapharm alfoil PVdC-coated film product line has been extended to include Pentapharm alfoil SG films for pharmaceutical and nutraceutical products requiring outstanding moisture protection and enhanced performance. Pentapharm alfoil SG films provide excellent surface slip characteristics (low coefficient-offriction) as compared to standard PVdC coated film for higher packaging line productivity and yield. This film is available worldwide from Klöckner Pentaplast and is the only film on the market that offers such properties.

Available in two-layer (PVC/PVdC) or three-layer (PVC/PE/PVdC) structures for medium to high moisture barrier, Pentapharm alfoil SG films have better thermoforming properties as compared to conventional PVdC-coated films. These films prevent blocking on pre-heat plates and offer a more consistent material flow during the thermoforming process. No modifications are required for pre-heat plates, thereby providing additional cost savings. In addition, Pentapharm alfoil SG films have improved mold and blister-to-blister denest properties which allow for higher filling rates for gel caps and other pharmaceuticals. These films are sealable to all standard vinyl-compatible lidstocks; available in transparent clear and opaque white colors; and are compliant with U.S. FDA requirements for use in pharmaceutical packaging (DMF #3764).

New Pentaprint High Clarity Polyester Shrink-Label Films
The Pentaprint product line of shrink-label films has been extended to include Pentaprint E746/92 AS7 a high-clarity polyester film for full-body shrink-sleeve label and multi-pack applications. This film has been engineered to provide improved crystal clarity allowing customers the advantage of gaining additional visual appeal over other shrink-label films available in the marketplace today.

The new high-clarity Pentaprint E746/92 AS7 film is ideal for products which are printed with 360 degree graphics and where 60% shrinkage is sufficient. These films provide customers with additional visual clarity and brilliance when applied to clear PET containers. In addition, Pentaprint E746/92 AS7 films exhibit a lower shrink force advantage that allows for a more uniform application on contour container configurations. Along with low coefficient-of-friction properties for easy processing, the film also has anti dust collector properties. As with all Klöckner Pentaplast shrink films, this new Pentaprint film offers excellent gauge control, lay-flat properties, ink adhesion, and seaming ability. The Pentaprint films are suitable for flexographic and gravure printing processes.

New Pentaform Easy-Form High-Performance Vinyl Films
The Pentaform line of custom formulated thermoforming films has been extended to include the new "Easy Form" high-performance Pentaform rigid vinyl films for face-seal blister and clamshell packaging applications. The new "Easy Form" Pentaform films allow for a broader, more forgiving temperature range during the thermoforming process, thereby reducing the potential for thermoforming problems and increasing productivity. The new film is well suited for use in pilfer-proof, high visibility, and RFID capable packaging, as well as a broad spectrum of products that require blister pack, clamshell, two-part clamshells, club packs, and tray applications.

Pentaform high-performance "Easy Form" vinyl films have enhanced material flow and distribution in the formed part as compared to traditional thermoforming films. The improved material flow and distribution allow for more efficient material flow making sidewalls thicker around the formed part resulting in a superior formed part. Ten percent improved cycle time on most molds can be expected with this new technology material. "Easy Form" Pentaform films allow customers to transition between short and long runs faster by reducing the number of poorly formed parts, which creates thermoforming machine time for other orders resulting in higher thermoformed part throughput and cost savings. "Easy Form" films also provide optimal down gauge potential for even further material cost savings.
