Great Northern Corporation's Packaging Group Develops All-In-One Insulated Shipping Crate
Appleton, WI - Great Northern Corporation has developed Cool Crate, a packaging system designed specifically for shipping temperature-sensitive products such as food and medical products.
The Cool Crate system offers an all-in-one fully insulated shipping solution that allows the cost-effective shipping of a full pallet of product such as beverages, fish, meat, poultry, cheese, vegetables, desserts, other food items, pharmaceuticals, biological samples, medical samples, cultures, enzymes, drugs, blood plasma and other laboratory samples. The system consists of sturdy polystyrene foam panels that deliver superior insulation properties to all sides of a palletized load. The panels are designed to interlock for quick and easy assembly. Users simply lock the bottom and edge panels together, place their product inside the crate, fill the empty space with dry ice or insulating materials, secure the top, stretch wrap and band the pallet.

"Shipping temperature-sensitive products has never been easier," said Dan Stubing, Custom Packaging Sales Manager. "The ability to ship a full pallet of product without the need to individually wrap each box will save time and reduce the amount of overall handling that's required."
The Cool Crate is shipped unassembled to end users. Pieces include a top half and bottom half that make up the outside of the crate, and six polystyrene panels—a top, bottom and four sides.
