Global PET Manufactures Bottle Box™ Food Packages Using 100% Recycled Post Consumer PET In Southern California

Manufacturing Facility Features Latest Technologies and Encompasses an Environmentally Friendly Focus for The Bottle Box(TM) Production

Perris, CA /PRNewswire/ -- The Bottle Box(TM) is the first ever food packaging product from the true bottle-to-box recycling process. Launched in collaboration by Direct Pack, Inc. (DPI) and Global PET, an upscale, eco-chic and innovative range of food packaging is now being manufactured by Global PET in Southern California. The state-of-the-art facility encompasses the latest technologies in recycling 100% post consumer PET beverage bottles and places a greater emphasis on minimizing the footprint on the ecosystem. Production kicked off in October 2009.

Global PET proudly presents the 173,000 sq. ft. manufacturing plant for the Bottle Box(TM) in Perris, California. The restructured Global PET facility features the latest technology while encompassing an environmentally friendly focus on manufacturing the Bottle Box(TM) line of food packages. A significant carbon reduction was achieved by converting an existing building. Led by Global PET President, Nadim Bahou, this plant will allow the Bottle Box(TM) team to deliver top level quality, durability, sustainability and accessibility that is unsurpassed.

When complete in the spring of 2010, the facility will house high-tech and up to date equipment from AMUT S.P.A. Machinery for washing, grinding, extruding and thermoforming is essential to the overall framework of manufacturing. With proper tooling and layout, the manufacturing facility provides a consolidated approach to bring the food grade packages to market. This facility is designed specifically for the focus on quality and is transferable to the final product without sacrifice.

Co-collaborator DPI brings their best in class abilities in design, distribution, packaging, sales and marketing expertise to the teamwork with Global PET. To further ensure proper execution, Global PET received a grant of nearly $7 million from the state of California and established a 10-year partnership agreement with the Plastic Recycling Corporation of California (PRCC) for 60 million pounds of discarded PET bottles.

"The amazing grant and our partnership with PRCC has really provided us with a competitive advantage and has put us one step ahead," says Nadim Bahou, President Global PET. "This allows for us to deliver superior performance in the 100% eco chic recycled Bottle Box(TM). Our long-standing history in the business merited the grant and partnership. Beyond that, individuals doing their part at home on a daily basis by recycling their bottles helps us do what we do."

Craig Snedden, President Direct Pack, Inc. adds, "We are constantly looking at processes and revisiting them with a close eye to better them. What makes our Bottle Box(TM) product sustainable is really a simple formula: materials +product+application+manufacturing+intended life span = level of sustainability," "We are employing strategies that we know will deliver winning results across the board with our team and Global PET."
