Dow Grows Polyurethanes Business With Flexible Products Co. Acquisition

In a move to achieve growth goals in polyurethanes and sustain its commitment to the global formulated products and systems business, N/A (Midland, MI) has reached an agreement to acquire Flexible Products Co. (Marietta, GA).

Flexible Products is one of the largest polyurethane systems suppliers in North America and specializes in custom polyurethane foam formulations and dispensing technology. Terms of the agreement were not disclosed. The transaction is expected to close in the first quarter, as soon as regulatory approvals have been obtained.

"The acquisition of Flexible Products strengthens Dow Polyurethanes commitment to new and existing customers for formulated products and systems in North America," commented Bob Wood, global vice president, Dow Polyurethanes. "It also enhances our service capability and leverages our global technologies and competencies for customers worldwide."

"Historically, Dow has selectively supplied polyurethanes formulations in North America in a variety of segments, including the appliance, automotive and construction industries," Wood continued. "The acquisition of Flexible Products will help us to develop new, innovative application segments, while continuing to grow our overall polyurethanes market segments."

With annual sales of more than $140 million, Flexible Products serves customers in the packaging, refrigeration, construction, appliance, furniture, roofing, and other markets. Flexible Products owns four manufacturing sites in North America located in: Marietta, GA; Joliet, IL; Austin, Texas; and Toronto.

Dow Polyurethanes is one of 15 global businesses of The Dow Chemical Co. and supplies polyurethane systems and raw materials with 36 manufacturing sites worldwide.
