Curlam® Laminates: Latest Flexible Packaging Solution from MACtac®

Paper/Foil Laminates Give Converters Multiple Options for Narrow Web Printing

Stow, OH – Fall 2002 – MACtac® recently introduced its Curlam® family of laminates for flexible packaging products. Designed exclusively for narrow web printers to meet growing industry demands for faster turnaround and shorter press runs, the Curlam line offers a variety of paper and foil laminates that protect package contents from external contamination. The products are designed for a variety of primary and secondary packaging needs ranging from food and beverage pouches to personal and home care product samples.

Developed by Curwood®, an industry leader in flexible packaging technology, the narrow web versions of Curlam films are now offered by MACtac. Curlam laminates feature minimal foil flex or stress cracking, minimal exterior spot foil corrosion and great barrier properties. With excellent tearing characteristics for easy opening, the products also feature superior roll conformation and cutting ability. The Curlam line is rated for products requiring low oxygen and Moisture Vapor Transmission Rate (MVTR) barrier properties.

Curlam C1S 26# Paper/Foil/LDPE laminates are used for high quality line and process printing on primary packaging.

Curlam 25# Bleached Machine Glazed Paper/Foil/LDPE laminates accept line and some process printing and are typically used in secondary packaging, non-retail and economical look applications.

Designed for hard-to-hold products, Curlam C1S 26# Paper/Foil/Surlyn® is utilized for high quality printing on primary packaging. The Surlyn sealant has a wide temperature range for sealing and excellent hot tack. This sealant is great for sealing through grease, oil and other contaminates, as well as high-moisture environments.

All Curlam products meet the requirements for food contact material under the Food Additives Regulations. They can be used for snacks, soups, spices, powders, liquids, non-dairy creamers, teas, instant coffee, cocoa, hot chocolate mixes, home care products, personal care products, cosmetics, samples, wipes, medical and pharmaceutical products, pet treats and more. In addition, Curlam C1S 26# Paper/Foil/Surlyn can be used for grated cheese products.
