Packard BioChip Technologiestocode system is an automatic stencil-changing device that offers the option of programmable coding when used with pulsed coding lasers. The stencils are arranged as a series of eight discs that overlap to form the required message. Each disc is driven by a processor controlled stepper motor that rotates and stops in the required position. Serial, batch, date and clock information can be remotely varied and coded onto the final product. The stencil format allows for full character coding and the option of several font styles to compliment the product to be coded and its packaging. The system can be arranged for one, two or three lines of data with a maximum of eight variables in the code. Code formats can be customized to meet market requirements. In addition, flexible disc design allows for future changes to the format when required.
