Arjo Wiggins transfers European synthetic paper business to Oji-Yuka
Arjo Wiggins Belgium has agreed to transfer its European synthetic paper distribution business to Oji-Yuka Synthetic Paper Company, Ltd., Japan. As part of the agreement, Oji-Yuka has established Yupo Europe GmbH to assume responsibility for sales, marketing and distribution of synthetic paper in Europe under the new brand "YUPO," effective October 1, 2000. Arjo Wiggins Belgium formerly sold the paper under the "Synteape" brand.
"We are committed to providing graphic communication, converting and packaging professionals with the highest quality products and services," says Enzo Firrao, vice president, sales and marketing, Yupo Europe.
The transfer of this business will enable Arjo Wiggins Belgium to concentrate on its core business of manufacturing and selling IDEM carbonless copying papers, according to Jes Jarvis, chief executive of Arjo Wiggins' European Carbonless Paper Operations.
YUPO synthetic paper is well-suited for virtually any printing, converting or packaging application that requires an extremely durable, high-quality paper. Common packaging applications include tags, in-mold labels and pressure-sensitive labels.
YUPO supports high quality graphics that can be printed on offset lithographic, flexographic, and gravure presses and can handle such value-added finishing applications as embossing, binding, foil stamping, die cutting and perforating. All grades of YUPO synthetic paper are 100% recyclable.
