The Apollo 2, 3 and 3/300, stand-alone label printing stations that, once label formats are downloaded from a computer, can be remotely operated and perform many software functions with no computer attached. These thermal/thermal transfer label printers set new standards in flexibility of use, security, and standard, out-of-the-box features.

The Apollos are the first printers that allow you to download a label format, or even graphics and a database, to an optionally installed, industry-standard PCMCIA card, disconnect the printer from the PC and take it to a new location. Using the printer's front panel or a standard computer keyboard, you can input data, specify the number of labels to print, and merge database information into your format...all without a computer attached. The Apollo provides even greater security as well, because a format downloaded to the PCMCIA card cannot be altered without re-attaching the printer to a PC.

The Apollo series features a 300 dpi model running at 8 inches (200mm) per second with a 4.2" (108mm) print width, as well as a 203 dpi model with a speed of 5 inches (125mm) per second and a 4.09" (104mm) print width.

Standard is a high-speed 32-bit processor with 2 MB of RAM, so the Apollo is fast, with much more standard RAM than any label printer, ideal for downloading TrueType fonts or graphics, creating dramatic labels with impeccable print quality on bar codes, graphics and text. Apollos support all the popular linear and two-dimensional bar code symbologies.

The Apollos feature 3 printer-resident scalable typefaces. All Western and Eastern European Latin characters are also resident in the Apollos as well. Ideal for international companies, the back-lit LCD display provides quantity count down, printer configuration, status messages, data input and operator prompts in English, German, French, Italian, Spanish and Finnish!

While the unique aspect of Apollos is in their stand-alone capability, Apollos work great with a computer as well. In fact for system integration, it may be one of the easiest-to-interface printers available. Serial up to 57,600 baud, Centronics parallel, and RS-485 networking interfaces are all built-in to the Apollo. These interfaces, along with the fact the Apollo programming language requires no control characters, allows interfacing with virtually any system including minis, mainframes and UNIX systems.
