Alcan Packaging Acquires Relapasa Assets In Mexico

Strenghened Supply Base To Serve Mexican And U.S. Flexible Packaging Markets

Guadalajara, Mexico — Alcan Inc. announced that Alcan Packaging Mexico, S.A. de C.V. has acquired the packaging assets and business of Recubrimientos y Laminaciones de Papel, S.A. de C.V. (Relapasa), of Monterrey, Mexico. The asset purchase includes a plant in Monterrey (Nuevo León). Terms of the transaction were not disclosed.

"Alcan Packaging is strategically committed to realigning its portfolio globally toward growing and attractive market segments. The Monterrey site will provide an expanded manufacturing platform to accelerate Alcan's food and specialty flexible packaging growth in the Mexican domestic market," said Christel Bories, President and Chief Executive Officer, Alcan Packaging.
