A new series of sanitary vacuum conveyors to the USDA and 3-A standards

PIAB Vacuum Productsal Handling, manufacturer of industrial vacuum conveyors and components, has introduced its new C33 family of conveying systems that the US Department of Agriculture (USDA) approves to handle dairy and food grain products. The conveyors also conform to the 3-A Sanitary Standards for Pneumatic Conveyors for Dry Milk and Dry Milk Products.

Powered by the company's highly regarded pneumatically driven vacuum pumps, these systems safely and quietly transport up to 5-6 tons/hour of powders and granules in virtually any manufacturing or processing environment.

For PIAB, the USDA & 3-A requirements apply to product handling via their vacuum pump and vacuum conveyor receiver module. Consideration for the products is from the hygienic viewpoint, the materials used, and whether the surfaces are smooth enough. The overall design of the equipment also plays a large part. The USDA regulations and 3-A standards go much further than those of the Food and Drug Administration (FDA).

The construction of the PIAB vacuum conveyors are of 316L stainless steel that is specified for the pharmaceutical and food products industries. The filter design can trap particles down to 0.3 microns and can be equipped with a High Efficiency Particle Arrestment (HEPA) filter. The design of the new conveyor improves the vacuum-assisted flow by 25% without affecting energy consumption.
