Carton-sealing tape is made with thin strips of bioriented poly-propylene (BOPP) which serves as the backing material. This backing material is then coated with various thicknesses of acrylic adhesive for different weight requirements.

This unique OPP carton-sealing tape was the first invented and introduced in Taiwan by ACHEM, and was the first prize winner in the Packing Material Invention contest sponsored by the Taiwan Government. Since OPP tape possesses the unique quality of being lightweight and of high tensile, it has therefore been widely adopted in automated carton-sealing machines throughout many industries.

For any special applications, this packaging tape can be made from different backing material, such as kraft paper, OPP, Polyvinylchloride (PVC), cloth, film, and glass-woven material, etc. This backing material can later be coated with rubber adhesive. However, due to different weight requirements, greater variation can be achieved through a different selection of packaging material.

In addition to carton-sealing applications, these specialize-scrutiny tapes have been widely used in the furniture, construction and food industries.
