Drug products that are packaged in HDPE bottles/closure systems often require a desiccant. A desiccant not only protects the drug product from further hydration, but actively desiccates the drug product to reduce the rate of chemical degradation by reducing molecular mobility (except in the case of amorphous drug substances).
