RFID Tagging: The Model 400 Print and Apply Labeler from NJM/CLI Stands Ready

February 17, 2004 – The Model 400 Print and Apply Labeler from NJM/CLI can be customized to support the next generation RFID tagging technology now being developed. The labeler can even be retrofitted in the field to support RFID tagging, making it the ideal case labeling solution for today's forward-thinking packagers. Designed for maximum versatility and reliability, the Model 400 achieves vertical and horizontal labeling of cases and cartons at speeds up to 50 per minute. With optional application tools, the Model 400 can also achieve side labeling, corner wrap labeling and two-panel labeling at speeds up to 20 per minute.

"We're hard at work with a number of development partners to design an automated labeling solution with integrated RF technology that will encode, verify and apply RFID tags at full production speeds," explained Bill Delmolino, VP Technical Sales at NJM/CLI. "We're out in front of the pack, in part because our versatile Model 400 Print and Apply Labeler can be fitted with the next generation RFID tagging technology."

As the Department of Defense and Wal-Mart set demands for automatic identification to achieve product tracking, the production demands put on Print and Apply Labelers are becoming more challenging. NJM/CLI meets the challenge with its Model 400 Print and Apply Labeler.

The Model 400 features rugged construction and the highest quality components such as printers, valves, cylinders, regulators and sealed bearings that require no lubrication. NJM/CLI's unique tooling design achieves highly accurate and repeatable labeling placement that maintains registration without operator intervention. This reliable labeler reduces maintenance and increases production efficiency while offering a longer labeler life expectancy.

NJM/CLI can equip the Model 400 Print and Apply Labeler with one of several PLCs and a variety of printers including those from Sato, Zebra, Avery, Datamax and others to meet the needs of each packager. Additionally, each labeler can be configured for different communications compatibilities to accommodate Ethernet or data highway connectivity to achieve interactivity with upstream and downstream equipment.
