Tetra Pak Inc.last LX-6, a new linear PET stretch blow molding machine, is capable of blowing up to 7,200 bph. The six-mold machine produces simple to complex bottles for the whole range of PET liquid food applications, from edible oil to carbonated soft drinks, including oval containers. The standard machine blows bottles ranging in size from 250 ml to 2 liters. This can be extended to 2.25 liters with optional modifications.

Featuring a compact footprint, the LX-6 provides preform heating in a six-lane, infrared controlled oven system, which features fixed cooling slots for precise cooling of the preform surface. Stabilization times are adjustable between ovens, and the oven heights can be manually adjusted in a few seconds. Employing touchscreen controls, the LX-6 automatically adapts to any programmed bottle or preform. Up to 20 production 'recipes' can be pre-set and saved at one time.

The system also features electro-mechanical drive systems and a servo stretching system linked to the proportional pre-blowing pressure valve. This allows the adjustment of any given pre-programmable stretching profile, and the servo-assisted stretch rods do not have to be replaced for production changes. Instead, sensors measure preform and bottle lengths automatically and the machine parameters readjust electronically. Two electro-mechanical toggle clamping units in the LX-6 open and close the molds faster to support the increased machine output.
