About Us

MeadWestvaco Containerboard, headquartered in Atlanta, Georgia, is a division of The MeadWestvaco Corporation, a paper and forest products company. The containerboard division's primary products are corrugating medium (the fluted inner part of corrugated containers), and the containers themselves for everything from beverages to bicycles.

The division produces corrugating medium at the Stevenson, Alabama mill. The mill has an annual production capacity of 840,000 tons, with two paper machines producing a full range of corrugating medium in basis weights from 18 to 45 pounds per thousand square feet (MSF). The corrugating medium is used by Mead's own seven converting facilities and is also sold to other container manufacturers. The converting plants produce a wide range of corrugated packaging, ranging from bulk bins to colorful graphic point-of-sale displays. The division is also the exclusive United States licensee for Meta® Systems, a packaging system of corrugated die-cut blanks formed into containers at the customer site on Meta® case-forming machines. Most Meta® cases have an eight-corner design, providing a unique look to consumer boxes while at the same time increasing strength and stackability.
