Evergreen Packaging Introduces New Fully Renewable Cup Stock With Bio-Based Polyethylene

Evergreen Packaging recently announced the introduction of their new line of fully renewable cup stock with bio-based polyethylene. This cup stock is one of the first of its kind and was developed for both hot and cold applications. The new offering reflects Evergreen Packaging's continued commitment to the use of renewable resources and reinforces the company's expertise in custom co-extrusion barrier technology.

Cup stock is a fiber-based (paperboard) product.  Evergreen Packaging is a major supplier of cup stock to companies that convert it into cold cups (soft drinks and other cold beverages) and hot cups (coffee and other hot beverages). The company is focused on developing innovative fiber-based products to meet the business goals of customers and sustainability preferences of consumers. "Our new cup stock reflects the company's commitment to supporting our customer's business goals," said Evergreen Packaging Managing Director of Global Board Sales Chris Johns. "It runs dependably and seamlessly like other forms of polyethylene coated stock. This allows our customers to offer a fully renewable cup without any change to their existing manufacturing process."

In addition, Evergreen Packaging creates products that are designed to meet consumer desires for environmentally responsible products, including cup stock with post-consumer recycled content (PCR). Evergreen Packaging is also committed to providing products that utilize renewable resources. The company converts trees, a renewable material, into paper and paperboard. The new cupstock uses sugarcane-based polyethylene supplied by Braskem. Combining renewable paperboard with a renewable sugarcane-based polyethylene coating offers customers a unique, innovative, fully renewable cup stock option.
